ST. JOSEPH, Missouri – The Ouachita women's tennis team opened its weekend road trip on Friday with a hard-fought 5-2 loss to Missouri Western.
The Tigers opened the match on a high note, earning the doubles point thanks to wins on courts two and three.
Karli Gay and
Anastasia Myachina evened up the doubles contest with a 6-2 win on court three.
Jenny Pfaefflin and
Ruxandra Tolescu came through with the clincher with a 7-5 victory on court two.
Singles started with wins for the Griffons on courts two and three. Tolescu fought back on court four after losing the first set to win two close sets to even the match at 2-2.
The Griffons won the final three matchups to earn the overall win.
Ouachita heads west into Kansas for a Saturday matchup with Emporia State.
