ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's tennis team opened a stretch of three home matches in three days with a 6-1 loss to No. 10 Washburn on Thursday.
The Ichabods started with two straight sweeps in doubles on courts one and three to take the early lead in the match.
Ruxandra Tolescu and
Natalia Zamora Caprirolo won their match on court two by a score of 6-4.
Tolescu was the lone Tiger winner in singles with a back-and-forth battle that ended with a 10-6 tiebreaker. Tolescu beat her Washburn counterpart, Charlotte Bair, in the first set 6-1. Bair returned the favor with the same score in set two.
Match two of the weekend features the Tigers welcoming cross-street rival Henderson State to the Heflin Courts on Friday for a non-conference bout starting at 2 p.m.
