ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's tennis team came out on top of a hard-fought match at home against Drury on Saturday, beating the Panthers by a final score of 4-3.
The Tigers (3-11) started the match by earning the doubles points with wins on courts one and three, including the clincher from the duo of
Marlee Bledsoe and
Jenny Pfaefflin on court three by a score of 7-5.
Alice Kubler and
Jaelyn Walker opened with a 6-3 win on court one.
The Panthers (6-3) rallied back with singles wins on courts three and four to take a 2-1 lead. Ouachita answered with a win on court five by Walker by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 to force a tie in the overall match.
The two squads split the next two matches with DU's Leana Chanove winning on court one and Ouachita's
Natalia Zamora Caprirolo winning in three sets on court two. The clincher came on court six with
Jenny Pfaefflin coming from down a set to win two in a row, including a 7-5 victory in the third and final set.
The Tigers are off for Spring Break and are set to return to action on Monday, March 30 on the road against UT-Tyler for the final non-conference match of the year.
