KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ouachita senior Devon Hancock was selected to the Division II Central All-District Second-Team, announced Monday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The recognition highlights the instant impact of the Dallas native, who was the driving force behind the Tigers' 23-7 campaign. After transferring from UL-Monroe, Hancock established himself as the offensive catalyst for Ouachita and finished third in the GAC, averaging 17.3 points in 30 games.
Hancock often set the tone and pushed the pace for the Tigers. He ranked third in the league with 165 field goals and fifth with 64 made three-pointers, while shooting a 39% clip from 3-point range. His efficiency extended to the charity stripe as his 86% free throw percentage was the second-best conversion rate in the GAC.
With an innate ability to deliver in crunchtime, Hancock separated even further from his opponents. Hancock was one of only three GAC players to post multiple 30-point performances this season, evidenced best by his 34-point outing on an immaculate 10-for-12 shooting performance in a win over then-No. 14 Southern Nazarene.
Hancock earned GAC All-Tournament Team honors after combining for 33 points to elevate Ouachita into the conference semifinals. The All-District selection adds another accolade to a decorated campaign for Hancock, who was the league's Newcomer of the Year and the lone unanimous selection on the All-GAC First-Team. In a season defined by consistency and clutch performances, Hancock leaves a lasting mark by lifting the Ouachita men's basketball program through a historic season.
