ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's soccer team picked up its second straight win to start the season 2-0, the best season start for the program since 2021 and the best start under Head Coach
Wes Holifield.
OBU wasted no time in its offensive attack, scoring back-to-back goals within 32 seconds in the 5
th minute of play. Philip Bolk scored first, followed closely behind a goal from
Evan Cristler on an assist from
Cody Tice.
The Tigers extended their lead to 3-0 in the 39
th minute when
Vincent Robles found
Nael Shalabi who put it past the keeper in the bottom left part of the net.
Ouachita's defensive efforts held the Royals to just one shot in the first half, taking a commanding 3-0 lead into the half.
In the opening minutes of the second half,
Logan Kraham found the bottom, right part of the net, after an assist from Bolk, to extend the Tigers lead to 4-0.
Eric Godoy scored his second goal in as many games, and second of his career, in the 72
nd minute on an assist from Kraham and
Connick Whitmire.
The scoreboard read 5-0 at the final horn.
Offensively, the Tigers recorded 25 shots, the most shots tallied since October 2016, with nine being on target. Defensively, OBU held the Royals to four shots, the least amount allowed since October 2024.
The Tigers continue a four-game home stretch with a matchup against Delta State on Tuesday, September 1 at 3:30 p.m.
