ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – Ouachita men's soccer improved to 4-2-1 on the season and 1-1 in Great American Conference play with a 1-0 win over Newman on Thursday afternoon at Kluck Field.
Ouachita opened scoring just seven minutes into the contest when Philip Bölk took advantage of an empty net and found the bottom left portion of the goal from 45 yards out, giving the Tigers the early 1-0 lead over Newman.
Evan Cristler was credited with the assist.
Although facing a 1-0 deficit at halftime, Newman held the advantage in shots 6-3.
The lone goal served as the game-winner, as both teams were scoreless in the second half.
Ouachita closed the gap in total shots with nine, compared to Newman's 13. The two teams were even in shots on goal at four each.
Landon Summers recorded four saves en route to his third shutout of the season.
Up next, the Tigers will host Fort Hays State on Saturday, September 26 at 11 a.m.
