Kane Bryen is entering his seventh season as Ouachita’s defensive line coach and 10th season overall with the Tigers. He is in his second stint with the Tigers after spending a season at Blinn Junior College as the offensive line coach.

During Ouachita's seventh GAC championship run during the 2024 season, Bryen helped Ouachita field one of the best defensive units in the nation, specifically the third best scoring defense in D2, giving up just 12 points per game. Bryen coached four All-GAC performers during 2024.

The 2023 season saw Bryen's defensive line unit put up better numbers than the previous season by allowing less than 150 rush yards per game. The Tiger d-line also produced 2023 All-GAC defensive tackle in Braylen Butler.

In 2022, the Tiger front line ranked third in the GAC in rush defense, allowing less than 160 rush yards per game to help Ouachita earn its sixth GAC title after an 11-0 regular season and an NCAA Playoff appearance.

Since 2019, the Ouachita defense has ranked in the top three in the Great American Conference for rush defense, thanks in part to Bryen's controlling defensive lines. Bryen has coached 10 All-Conference and two All-Region defensive linemen since 2018.

While at Blinn, Bryen helped the offense average 454 yards per game and helped guide the offense to a top-five national ranking in total offense. Bryen also helped Blinn to its first bowl game in four years.

In his first stint at Ouachita, Bryen was a graduate assistant coach from 2014-2017. He worked with a running backs unit that set several school records. Bryen was a member of the 2014 coaching staff that led Ouachita to a perfect 10-0 record and a 2014 Great American Conference Championship. During the 2014 season, Tiger ball carriers amassed 2,852 yards rushing and averaged 237 yards per game. Bryen also coached the single season touchdown rushing record in 2014 and the national freshman of the year in 2015.

Bryen played at fellow Great American Conference affiliate Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The former right tackle started 41 consecutive games for the Bulldogs.

Bryen has been married to his wife Deitra for 12 years now, and the couple have two sons, Beau and Jax.
