RJ Powell is entering his second year of coaching the defensive line at Ouachita in 2025. In 2024, he aided in the efforts of five Tiger defensive lineman earning All-Great American Conference honors.
Powell came to Arkadelphia after spending his playing career as a defensive lineman at fellow GAC member Southwestern Oklahoma State University. At SWOSU, Powell was named the 2023-24 football MVP and earned Second Team All-GAC honors his senior season. In the 2023 season, the Sayre, Oklahoma native racked up 78 total tackles and 15.5 tackles for loss, which ranked fourth in the GAC. In total, the former Bulldog tallied 157 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks across a four-season career at SWOSU.Â
