Former Ouachita Baptist University softball player Tobi Finley-Koonce returned to the program as assistant coach in July of 2022.
Finley-Koonce lettered for the Tigers for three seasons in 2018, 2019, and 2020 before transferring to finish her collegiate career at Central Baptist College in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Sheridan, Arkansas native graduated from CBC in May of 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science.
In three seasons at Ouachita, she played in 126 games, primarily as an outfielder, racking up 98 hits, 17 doubles, three triples, and five homeruns. She was named to the All-Great American Conference honorable mention team in 2019.
In her final season at CBC, she played in 44 games, and finished the season with a .350 batting average to go along with nine doubles, five triples, two homeruns, and 27 runs batted in. In addition to her athletic performance, she also shined in the classroom as a two-time member of the American Midwest Conference All-Academic Team during her career at CBC.
After exhausting her playing career, she worked as a hitting and defensive coach at the Elite Sports & Performance Academy, and had roles with the parks and recreation departments for the cities of Sheridan and Conway.
Tobi and her husband, Devon Koonce, were married in May of 2022.
