Kourtney Chumbley

Kourtney Chumbley is in her fifth year as the head coach of her alma mater in 2024-25.

During her career as a student-athlete at Ouachita, Chumbley was a three-time all-conference selection as and was picked as the team MVP in 2013. She graduated from Ouachita in 2015 with a degree in speech communications.

Since coming back to Ouachita in October of 2020, Chumbley has coached nine All-Great American Conference performers, including the 2024 unanimous GAC Freshman of the Year in Sadbaroy Kholdarova.

Also, under Chumbley’s leadership, the program has earned four consecutive GAC Sportsmanship Awards and four consecutive distinctions as an ITA All-Academic Team. Individually, Chumbley has coached 18 Academic All-GAC selections, 23 ITA Scholar Athlete selections, and six Academic All-District selections.

Since joining the Ouachita staff, Chumbley has served on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for women’s tennis and currently serves on the ITA Operating Committee for NCAA Division II.

Prior to her return to Arkadelphia, Chumbley was an assistant tennis coach and later the director of student-athlete development at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina from 2017-2020. She aided in the Trojan men’s team winning the regular season conference championship in 2019 and the women’s team reaching the finals the same season.

In her student-athlete development role, Chumbley directed student-athlete leadership programs, facilitated academic support, coordinated all community service initiatives, and created/organized educational programming for student-athletes.

Also, during her time in Mount Olive, she directed the university’s Odyssey Leadership Program for select student-athletes. She also served for a year as the assistant director of tennis at the Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro, N.C.

The Richardson, Texas native has also held positions as a tennis pro in her hometown at the Huffhines Tennis Center and the Canyon Creek Country Club.

Chumbley recently earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Arkansas State University.
