Thomas Butler-Guerrero joined the Ouachita Baptist University athletics department staff in September of 2025.
He served in the US Army reserves immediately after graduating Merrillville High School in Indiana and earned a broadcasting certificate from Illinois Media School in Chicago. After a six-year military career, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports journalism from IUPUI in 2022.
As a student competing for the Full Court Press scholarship in Spring ‘21, when the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament was held in Indianapolis, he published feature stories covering the Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium. As a senior, he interned with the Indianapolis Host Committee as a videographer and content producer for the 2022 College Football Playoff Tailgate Tour.
The Gary, Indiana native started his sports journalism career in 2019 covering sports across Indiana, most notably with The Indianapolis Star, Herald Bulletin and Region Sports Network. His brother Marc Guerrero serves on the Ouachita football staff as a defensive backs coach. Thomas has a one-year old daughter, Tatiana.
