Men's Soccer Finishes 1-1 Over the Weekend, Including 5-2 Conference Victory over Delta State

ARKADELPHIA, AR- The Ouachita Tigers (3-8-1, 1-3 GSC) hosted two conference games this weekend, including a match on Friday with No. 21 Christian Brothers and another on Sunday with Delta State. On Friday, the Tigers were defeated by the Bucs by a score of 1-0, but they brought their offense on Sunday, taking down Delta in a very physical game by a final of 5-2.

In their match-up with the No. 21 Buccaneers, the Tigers took eight shots, compared with the Bucs nine. The only difference in the game came at the 65:10 mark, when CBU's Michael Hollier scored the only goal of the game, an unassisted goal that came after a save by Ouachita goalkeeper David Henley. Henley collected four saves in the match-up, only giving up the one goal. Notable players for the Tigers were sophomore Andrew Davis, who took three shots in the game, and junior Rizvan Ceka, who would take three shots of his own. Ouachita was called for 15 fouls, while CBU was called for 24.

On Sunday, the Tigers came out playing with a purpose, as they netted five goals against the Statesmen. Ouachita scored twice on penalty kicks and three more times during regular play. Most notable was Ceka, who finished the game with two goals, including one of the penalty kicks. Davis, junior JT Goodrum and junior Sergui Postolache all collected an assist in the match while goal scorers included junior Clayton Case, junior Josh Galante, sophomore Taylor Heinsohn and Ceka. The game against Delta was full of cautions and even saw an ejection. Both coaches received a yellow card while Delta's Eljay Allen received one as well. A red card was issued to Delta's Stetson Chamberlain at the 53:55 mark of the game.

The Tigers return to the field on Tuesday, when they host Dallas Christian College at 3 p.m.
