Ouachita Wrestling Takes it to Central Baptist

CONWAY, AR- The Ouachita Baptist wrestling team traveled to Conway, Arkansas on Thursday night for a dual meet with the Mustangs of Central Baptist College. The Tigers took the meet handily, winning by a final score of 41-6, including victories in eight of the 10 matches that took place.

"I would like to see us win the two close matches we lost, but all in all this was a great team effort, and I am pleased with the results." said head coach Kevin Ward.

The Tigers took the 133 pound weight class with a convincing victory from Seth Hutchinson, in which he took an 11-2 decision over CBC's Antonio Rivera. Josh Myers took the victory by fall in the 141 pound class with a win over David Overy from Central Bapist at the 03:49 mark of the match.

The Tigers convincing victories continued in the 149 pound class, where Dexter Carter took an 8-0 victory over Henry Reyes and in the 157 pound class where Bobby Williams defeated CBC's Joseph Goolsyb by a score of 11-2.

Philip Dolan completely dominated his match in the 165 pound weight class, taking a victory over Anthony Mongno by a score of 15-0 while Gabriel Musser took the Tigers second victory due to fall over Jacob Jasper at the 04:31 mark of the match.

Dallas Smith won by forfeit in the 184 pound weight class, while Cooper Hays defeated John Lopez by fall at the 01:41 mark of the match.

The Tigers two losses came in the 125 pound weight class and the 285 pound weight class. Tiger wrestler Tyler Hartman lost to Travis Shellnut by an 11-4 decision, while Taylor Poe lost to Kurland Parks III by a 2-1 decision.

"It's a great win," commented Ward. "We were able to get a lot of bonus points, and that is what you want to see in matches like this.  CBC came out and wrestled hard, but I felt like we were able to match their intensity and separate ourselves in most matches."

The Tigers return to the mat on December 4, when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to participate in the Maryville/Kaufman-brand Open at Maryville University.
