Tiger Basketball Gets Back On Track With Win Over Williams Baptist

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, AR- The Ouachita Tigers (6-3) hosted the Williams Baptist Eagles (4-6) on Saturday, looking to bounce back after tough losses to North Alabama and Dallas Baptist. The Tigers scored practically at will against the Eagles and walked away with a 91-78 victory after an interesting game in which both teams seemed to make every shot that they took.

The Tigers were led by junior Austin Mitchell, who finished with a game high 24 points while also recording two rebounds and two assists. Senior Emmanuel Engulu finished with 13 points while junior Julian LaDay finished with 12. Sophomore David Day finished with a game high eight rebounds while LaDay recorded a game high nine assists.

The Eagles were led by Kyle Harvey, who collected 22 points in the game to go along with his four rebounds and three steals. Jake Veasley and Wes Livingston both added 12 points for Williams while Logan Chappell added 10 of his own. Livingston recorded a team high five rebounds while Zabian Sanders added a team high four assists.

The Tigers shot 57.7 percent from the floor while the Eagles had an impressive showing as well, making 54.4 percent of their shot attempts. The Tigers were hampered with turnovers, committing 21, but luckily the Eagles had some turnover struggles of their own, turning it over 19 times. Ouachita owned the rebounding category, reigning in 31 boards while allowing Williams 24 of their own.

The Tigers return to the court on January 2, when they travel to Walnut Ridge for a rematch with the Eagles. Tip off for that game is slated for 7 p.m.
