ARKADELPHIA, AR- Ouachita (6-6, 0-2 GAC) traveled to Searcy, Arkansas on Thursday to face off against Harding (11-1, 2-0 GAC). The match would mark the second Great American Conference match-up of the season, after falling to Arkansas Tech at home on Saturday.
In the first set of the game, Ouachita was unable to hang with Harding, as they pulled away early and won the set by a score of 25-12. During the set, Harding collected a total of 15 kills while only committing four errors. The Lady Tigers had six kills of their own but also had six errors in the set.
The second set was a much different story, as the Lady Tigers hung tough with the Lady Bison but came up just short, with the set ending at 25-19, giving Harding a two set advantage early in the match. The Lady Tigers collected 10 kills in the second set while only committing three errors, but the Lady Bison attack continued to be too much, as they trumped Ouachita's 10 kills with 17 of their own.
Entering the third set, Ouachita knew that they needed to rebound and come away with a victory to avoid starting their conference season 0-2, but Harding proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers to handle, as they continued to collect kill after kill, posting a total of 15 in the third set. Ouachita posted nine kills in the set, but also committed a costly seven errors, falling to the Lady Bison in the set by a score of 25-17 and subsequently ending the match with a final score of 3-0.
During the match, Harding was led by Taryn Eubank, who was credited 33 assists during the match, as well as Mollie Arnold who finished with 12 kills and Weslynn Williams, who finished with 17 digs.
Ouachita was led by
Lexie Hegi, who collected 21 assists, as well as 14 digs in the match. Her efforts were supported by
Kristyn Howk, who also finished with 14 digs.
The Lady Tigers continue their season this weekend, as they travel to Hendrix College to participate in the Hendrix Invitational. That tournament will last through Saturday.
