Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Tigers (11-4, 4-1 GAC) continued their tear through the Great American Conference on Thursday night, hosting Harding (7-7, 2-2 GAC) and finishing them off with a spectacular defensive performance that was contributed to by every player on the floor. The story of the game lies in the shooting percentages of both teams. The Tigers shot an impressive 53.3% from the floor while holding Harding to 42.3%.
Ouachita was led by a number of players, including junior
Nigel Ramsey, who continued his impressive across the board performances from weeks past, posting 18 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and three steals. Senior
Emmanuel Engulu posted a solid performance, recording 15 points in the game while also reigning in eight boards and a steal. Juniors
Austin Mitchell and
Michael Morris both had impressive games, posting 13 and 10 points respectively while Morris added a game high four blocks.
Harding was led by Hayden Johnson, who finished with 14 points in the game while also recording three rebounds. One of the differences in the game might have been the success that the Tiger defense had against Harding's Zach Roddenberry, normally an offensive force, but held to just eight points in Thursday's match-up.
The Tigers and Bison both turned the ball over 18 times, making for an interesting and very neck and neck battle. The Tigers won the rebounding category, reigning in 24 boards while Harding collected 21 of their own.
The Tigers return to action on Monday, when they host cross-street rival Henderson State. Although bragging rights are on the line, the Tigers will be worried about more important things, such as conference standings. As of Thursday night, there are five teams currently sitting with one loss in conference play, the Tigers and Reddies both included. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7:30 at Bill Vining Arena.
