Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- In a game that was full of career highs for the Ouachita Baptist Tigers (8-3, 1-0 GAC), it was also a historical win for the team. The Tigers captured a victory in their first ever Great American Conference game when the Tigers of East Central University came to town. The Tigers only held a two point lead at halftime, but pulled away in the second half, downing ECU by a final of 87-74.
The Tigers were led by two players who both posted career highs in scoring. Junior
Austin Mitchell posted a career high 29 points in the game, including a 17 point first half performance. He also added two rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Junior
Julian LaDay also had a career game, finishing with 20 points in the game while adding seven assists and three steals for Ouachita. Junior
Michael Morris finished with 11 points, adding four rebounds and two blocks. Senior
Emmanuel Engulu led the rebounding category for the Tigers, finishing with five.
East Central was led by Bobby McAdoo, who finished with 16 points, three rebounds and four steals. Darnell Davis finished with 14 points of his own. Nick Young and Randolph Howell led the rebounding category for ECU, both finishing with five.
The game looked like it was going to be a thriller as the first half ended, Ouachita only holding a two point lead. They turned it on in the second half though, seemingly everyone getting involved in the scoring. Ouachita only turned the ball over nine times, while ECU turned it over 18 times. Due to the fact that both teams had amazing shooting performances, the rebounds were limited. ECU won the rebounding category 31-24 though.
The Tigers return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Southwestern Oklahoma State. That game will tip-off at 4 p.m.
