41-Point Second Half Pushes Lady Tigers to Win Over Texas A&M-Commerce

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Despite a tough first half that ended with the Ouachita Lady Tigers (7-1) trailing the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce (3-4) by a score of 33-30, the Lady Tigers bounced back in the second half, posting 41 points en route to a 71-56 victory.
 
12 turnovers in the first half hampered the Lady Tigers, but they countered it with a 43.5 percent mark from the floor while holding the Lions to just 33 percent from the floor.
 
In the second half, the Lady Tigers played with a vengeance, knocking down 53.8 percent of their attempts from the floor and out-rebounding the Lions, giving them a chance to stretch their lead. Ouachita led by as many as 19 points on the way to their 15 point win.
 
Nashia James went off in the second half, finishing the game with 21 points and five rebounds. Monica Williams and Kendra Coyle both recorded 12 points in the contest, with Williams posting nine rebounds as well. On the defensive end of the floor, Ouachita was scrappy, recording nine blocks and 11 steals.
 
Texas A&M-Commerce's Breana Harris, of no relation to Ouachita's player by the same name, led her team with 13 points. Kourtney Briscoe was the only other Lion to finish in double-digits with 12 points. Harris led her team in rebounding as well, picking up six boards in the game.
 
Ouachita will have a couple of weeks off before returning home on December 29 to take on the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University. That game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
