Box Score BATESVILLE, Ark.- Following a tough tournament schedule to open the season, the Ouachita Lady TIgers (2-8) were looking to rebound on Monday night when they faced off against the Lady Scots of Lyon College (2-7). The Lady Tigers were lights out, taking the match in a clean sweep and claiming their second victory of 2012.
Megan Askew led the team with 12 kills, but
Abby Pickett and
Kelsi Bodine were heavy contributors as well, recording eight and seven kills respectively. Also impressive on the attacking side for Ouachita was their overall attack percentage, as they finished the game at .207.
Allison Frizzell was impressive as always, compiling 20 digs, while seven other Lady Tigers recorded at least one of their own. Ouachita also recorded seven service aces in the contest.
Faith Avalos and
Kelley Ballard both finished the game with two block assists, leading the team in that category.
The Lady Tigers kept Lyon on their toes all night, and it showed, as the Lady Scots racked up 23 attacking errors, six service errors, five return errors and six ball handling errors in the contest. They did have a couple of bright spots in the match though, as Ariel Smith recorded 13 digs and Halley Watson finished with an attack percentage of .800, recording kills on four of her five attacks.
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Saturday, September 15, when they open conference play against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
