Tigers Travel To Tech: Football Gameday Preview

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers look to bounce back today in Russellville after last week's gut-wrenching loss to Harding. A late fourth quarter touchdown put the Tigers on top, but Harding scored on their very next possesion to take the lead and hold on for the 36-33 win. It was the Tigers first loss of the year.

Ouachita will look to capitalize on red zone opportunities today against a Tech team that had had trouble keeping opponents out of the endzone. They'll be looking to neutralize tech linebacker Logan Genz who is averaging 9.6 tackles per game, second best in the GAC.

Here's a look at the where both teams stand going into today's contest:

OBU

The Tigers (5-1) suffered their first loss of the season last week against Harding .

Last week's 36-33 loss to Harding put the Tigers at 18-8 overall since joining the GAC.

Senior Chris Rycraw scored two touchdowns last week, bringing his career total to 34. He ranks 14th among active players in Div. II. Last week Rycraw scored on a 52-yard run and 66-yard pass.

Senior Antwion Patterson is averaging 1.2 sacks-per-game. He ranks first in the GAC and ninth in Div. II.  He has seven sacks through six games. His 4.5 tackles for loss against Southeastern Oklahoma rank tenth in Division II this season.

Freshman defensive lineman Andrew Gendi had a season and team high seven tackles against Harding.

Benson Jordan was 23-42-3 for 422 yards and three touchdowns. The yardage and touchdowns were season highs for Jordan. 

The Tiger offense rank second in Div. II in third down conversion percentage with a success rate of .544%.

The Tigers rank second in the GAC in Red Zone defense with a .722%.  

The Tigers are the least penalized team in the GAC, averaging only 6.77 a game.

The Tigers ranks first in the conference in four special teams categories, kickoff return defense (14.73 ypg), kickoff returns (23.16 ypg), punt return defense (2.0 ypg) and net punting (39.47 ypg).

Senior Etauj Allen leads the conference in punt returns, averaging 10.5 yards per return.

Junior wideout Jalen Jones caught eight passes for a season high 150 yards last week.

In only his second game of the season, redshirt-freshman Ryan Perkins caught four passes for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Linebacker Rickey Brown ranks in the top ten in the conference in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

Arkansas Tech

Arkansas Tech ranks last in the conference in total offense averaging 347.1 yards per game.

They rank second in the GAC in time of possession at 31:39. The Tigers rank first at 34:20.

The Arkansas Tech defense is allowing opposing offenses to score 25.9 points per game.

Tech is last in the conference in Red Zone defense with a .857%.

Tech is giving up 155.3 rushing yards per game. The Tigers are averaging 189.8 rushing yards per game.

Tech is 10-18 since joining the GAC. Tech leads the all-time series against OBU with a record of 41-28-7.
