ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tiger wrestling squad travels to Conway, Ark. tonight to compete against host Central Baptist College and Arkansas Baptist College. Matches are set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The in-state rivalry between the schools if fierce as each squad seeks to be the dominate force in collegiate wrestling in Arkansas. Last season, the Tigers defeated CBC by taking nine of 10 matches from Mustangs.
The Tigers are fresh off a three-match Saturday against three Division I programs that was highlighted with a 26-15 win over University of Illinois-Edwardsville. Head Coach Kevin Ward is looking for overall improvement in tonight's matches.
"We need to set the tone for matches early on. We need to get started fast and keep scoring. If we do that we will be happy with our results," Ward said.
He also stressed the intensity the Tigers will face from their opponents tonight. "We are facing in-state rivals that we know are very hungry to get a win over us," Ward said.
Ward added, "We are ready for, and expecting them to be very physical and inspired to beat us. I feel confident that our guys will respond."
