ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tiger wrestling team competed in to two duel meets last night in Conway, Ark and walked away with two dominating wins over in-state rivals Central Baptist College and Arkansas Baptist College.
The Tigers went 19-1 overall and outscored the two opposing teams 105 -3. The Tigers scored four pins against the Mustangs of Central Baptist.
Garrett Evans (125), Joshua Myers (141),
Bobby Williams (157) and
Dallas Smith (184) all won by pin fall.
It was a decisive win for the Tigers and according to Head Coach Kevin Ward, a positive sign of growth and improvement as a squad.
"We wrestled well. We did what we were supposed to do, and we looked as aggressive as I have ever seen," said Coach Ward. "We need to build on that and keep getting more aggressive."
The Tigers travel to Missouri now to compete in tomorrow's Lindenwood Open. Coach Ward is hoping last night's success carries over to the weekend.
"We have a tough tournament this weekend," Ward said, "and I am looking forward to seeing us sustain our aggressiveness in the tournament."
