Home Sweet Home! Tigers Get The "W" Over LSU-Shreveport 92-69.

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers (3-6) ended a six-game skid with a 92-69 win over LSU-Shreveport (6-6) this afternoon at Bill Vining Arena. The Tigers shot 59% from the field and finished 8-15 from the three-point line. Freshman Allen Buchanan (Marked Tree, Ark.) led the Tigers with 24 points.

The Tigers started the game with a 9-0 run behind the hot hand of forward Colt Fason (Conway, Ark.). LSU-Shreveport answered with a 10-0 run to take their only lead of the game.

The Tigers would get a layup and on the ensuing possession junior guard Micah Delph (Conway, Ark.) would force a steal and find a streaking Allen Buchanan. Buchanan took the Delph assist and slammed home a thunderous rim-rattler over a Shreveport defender. That dunk set the tone for the remainder of the first half.

The Tigers would extend the lead to 20 at the end of the period. The Tigers shot 22-38 from the floor, including 6-9 from the three-point line. Five Tigers hit threes in the first period, including two from Delph.  Fason shot 7-10 from the floor, scoring 15 first-half points in 10 minutes. Buchanan had 14 points and was 6-10 from the field, including a three-point shot at the buzzer to end the period.

LSU-Shreveport found themselves down by 28 points early in the second half. The Tigers had their way in the paint with the smaller LSUS lineup, forcing them to make wholesale substitutions with 17:25 left to play.

Ouachita would lead by as many as 32 in the second half as the hot shooting continued for the Tigers. Shreveport would make a run 8:13 left to play, led by forward Will Nelson, who scored 14 in the second half.

The Tiger offense and size was just too much for LSUS, who would never get closer than 18 points. Ouachita scored 50 of their 92 points in the paint. The Tigers out-rebounded Shreveport 34-17.

For the Tigers, Allen Buchanan would lead all scorers with 24 points, shooting 10-14 from the field. Colt Fason shot 10-15, scoring 21 points and pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds. Micah Delph scored 13 and dished out a game-high nine assists. David Day (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored a season-high 11 points.

LSU-Shreveport was led by Will Nelson and Joseph James, who each scored 21.

The Tigers are off until January 2, when they'll resume conference play at home in Bill Vining Arena against Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
