ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The seventh ranked Ouachita Tiger wrestling team traveled to Hamilton Field House Thursday night to face the second ranked Bronchos of Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos scored pins in the final two matches of the night to pull ahead of the Tigers and win the dual 28-17.
The Tigers jumped out at out an early 13-0 lead after winning the first three matches. 125-pounder Garret Evans, ranked fifth nationally, took the first match 7-2 to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. 133-pounder
Nate Rodriguez scored a 9-1 major decision win over two-time All-American Casey Rowell. 141-pounder
Josh Myers followed up with an impressive pin on Kaleb Cradduck in the third match.
Central Oklahoma would answer back taking the next four matches, taking two close matches over Tigers
Bobby Williams and
Jacob Andrews. The Bronchos would lead 16-13 following Colton Gallo fall over 174-pounder Eliyjah Crumpler at the 3:35 mark of their match.
Number one ranked 184-pounder
Dallas Smith would put the Tigers back on top with a 17-6 major decision win over Kyle Buckley. The Tigers would regain the lead 17-16 and were poised for the upset heading into the final two matches.
Central Oklahoma would score consecutive falls to end the dual with a 28-17 win.
The Tigers travel to Wichita, Kansas on December, 15 to participate in the Jet Invite at Newman University.
