Help support Coach Todd Knight and his staff in the fight to Coach to Cure MD

Coach to Cure MD is a one-day, nationwide awareness building and fundraising event that will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is working to raise awareness and research funding to cure Duchenne (doo-SHEN) Muscular Dystrophy, the most prolific genetic killer diagnosed in childhood. Coach to Cure MD is a project of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy in partnership with the AFCA.   
 
Coach Todd Knight and the entire Ouachita Baptist coaching staff are joining coaches all over America in wearing Coach to Cure M-D patches on their left arms this Saturday. The Tigers will also be joined on the field for the coin toss by six year old honorary captain Dalton Johnson, who is currently fighting Duchenne.
 
 
About Duchenne
 
  • It is a progressive muscular disorder that causes loss of muscle formation and independence
  • The Duchene gene is found on the X-chromosome so it primarily affects boys – approximately one in every 3,500 live male births across all races and cultures
  • To date, there is no cure and life expectancy is just in the 20s
  • Research to find a cure is underway on many college campuses. Last year college fanes helped Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy award grants to help support research.
 
What you can do to help
 
  • You can support Coach Knight and his staff in the fight against Duchenne by either contributing via text messaging , or online at www.CoachtoCureMD.org
  • During the game, text the word CURE to 90999 and donate $5
    • You'll receive a message back two seconds later asking you to confirm the donation
    • Reply back to this message with the word YES and you will receive another text back thanking you for your donation
    • The $5 is then added to your next cell phone bill on a separate line under donation, and it's that simple.
    • You can text the word CURE to 90999 up to five times to give a maximum of $25
    • The service is available on most major U.S. carriers and standard text rates may apply
