TIGERS ADD DEPTH & BALANCE IN ’26 CLASS

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University football team has signed 25 high school seniors and added 11 mid-year transfers to the roster for the 2026 season and beyond.

Ouachita Head Coach Todd Knight, who is entering his 27th season leading his alma mater, noted the uniqueness of the recruiting process this year due to the changes in the landscape of college football.

"For years, the core of our football program has been 93 percent high school players and seven percent transfers," said Knight, who became the state of Arkansas' all-time wins leader for college football this past season. "But with the changes to the game and how rosters are built, we've adapted as well, and we're about 85-15 now, which is where I think we should be going forward."

Knight also said his coaching staff did a great job of addressing critical areas of the roster that needed immediate help for this next year, but also added balance to the roster for years to come.

"Offensive line and defensive secondary were two areas we really spent a lot of time on this year," said Knight. "We lost a lot of seniors in those two position groups, so we needed experience and depth there, and our staff did a great job finding that."

Recruiting Arkansas high school football has always been a priority for the Tiger football program. Knight and his staff added 11 from the high school ranks in the Natural State and three transfers who played their prep football in Arkansas.

The Tigers also added a combined total of 13 players from Texas, four from Louisiana, two from Tennessee, and two from Oklahoma.

The largest position group in this year's class is defensive back with six high school signees and three mid-year transfers. Offensive line followed with seven combined additions.

"Our staff did a phenomenal job of finding young men that are great football players, but who are also a great fit for our program and our university," said Knight. "We're excited for the depth and production we have coming back. This new group of guys are going to challenge our returners, which should make for a fun spring and summer getting ready for the 2026 season."
