Overtime Thriller Ends With OBU Loss

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – After two halves of regulation and a five-minute period of overtime, the Tigers fell to the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 71-69 on a last-second shot by SNU's Antwone Jackson.
 
Southern Nazarene gained the first lead of the game and maintained the lead throughout the low-scoring first half. SNU claimed their largest lead of nine points before the Tigers went on an 11-1 run to take a one-point lead with less than two minutes to play in the half.
 
SNU stole the lead from the Tigers until Colt Fason nailed a last-second three-pointer to end the half with the teams tied at 23.
 
Fason's seven first-half points led all scorers, and Carven Holcolmbe grabbed a team-high seven boards.
 
In the second half, the score featured nine ties and six lead changes.
 
With 2:55 to play, OBU's Allen Buchanan tied the game at 55 with a fast-break-layup after a steal and assist from Eric Braeuer.  Braeuer then grabbed a rebound off an SNU missed shot and took it coast-to-coast, finishing the play with a layup and a chance at a three-point play after a foul by the Crimson Storm. The layup and free-throw gave the Tigers a three-point lead.
 
Back-to-back three-pointers from SNU's Garrett Butler gave the Crimson Storm the 61-58 with 42 seconds to play. OBU's Micah Delph answered right back with a three of his own to tie the game and send it to overtime.
 
In overtime, Holcolmbe gave the Tigers the first lead at 63-61. The Crimson Storm came back once again, however, and claimed a four-point lead with two minutes to play.
 
Two free-throws and a two-point jumper from Fason tied the game at 69, but with two seconds left, Jackson banked in a layup to give Southern Nazarene the win.
 
Jackson finished the game with 10 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Butler added 17 points for the Crimson Storm, including five three-pointers.
 
Fason led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Delph with 18. Delph also added eight boards, seven assists and a block. Braeuer scored in double-digits, as well, scoring 10 points.
 
The Tigers (3-7, 0-4) travel to Russellville on Thursday, Jan. 9th, for a game against Arkansas Tech. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
