Lady Tigers Get Crucial Win at Home Over Southeastern Oklahoma, 85-75

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.Nashia James recorded her second double-double of the season and Katie Kapler shot 7-10 from the floor to lead the Ouachita Lady Tigers to a crucial home win over Southeastern Oklahoma State 85-75 in Bill Vining Arena Thursday night. The Lady Tigers are now 5-13, 3-9 in the Great American Conference.

Despite shooting only 38% in the first half, the Lady Tigers led by as many as seven points for most of the first half. The Lady Tigers forced 11 Southeastern turnovers and were able to capitalize by converting them into points. The Savage Storm shot 62% from the floor and an amazing 75% from beyond the arc, but were outshot by the Lady Tigers 39-21.

The Lady Tigers were led by James at halftime with 12 points and seven rebounds. Eight Lady Tigers scored points in the first half. Breanna Harris had seven points. Katie Kapler and Katherine West each scored six.

The Lady Tigers made some defensive adjustments to start the second half and put pressure on the Southeastern shooters. The Savage Storm saw their shooting percentage drop to 38% in the second half, including 4-13 from the three-point line.

The Lady Tigers defense closed down the open looks and forced Southeastern to take several bad shots as the shot-clock expired. Elise Holman helped Ouachita defensively in the paint recording two second-half blocks.

Offensively, Ouachita worked the ball in the paint where Katie Kapler and Erica Sharp dominated. Sharp score all nine of her points in the second half, shooting 4-6 and pulling down three key offensive rebounds. Kapler continued her hot shooting from the first half, scoring eight in the second.

The Lady Tigers shot 63% from the floor in the second half and 50% from beyond the arc. Ouachita never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 15.

The Savage Storm were led by Emily Williams with 29 points.

Nashia James led the Lady Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Katie Kapler finished with 14 points, her highest total this season in GAC play. Katherine West had 13 points and four assists.

Breanna Harris and Erica Sharp each finished with nine points.

The Lady Tigers welcome East Central University this Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM at Bill Vining Arena.
