Bulldogs hand Tigers first GAC loss

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The Ouachita Tigers fell to 3-1 in the Great American Conference on Saturday, as the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 1-0 after a goal in the 82nd minute.

Southwestern Oklahoma State's offense was in control throughout the match, as the Bulldogs attempted 20 shots. The Tigers were held to only six shots, three of them on goal. 

Both teams were held scoreless in the first half, despite a combined 11 shots taken. Lauren Llanes was able to stop both shots on goal from the Bulldogs to keep the score tied. 

SWOSU (7-2-1, 3-0-1 GAC) attempted 12 shots in the second half, including a goal from Payton Warren with just over eight minutes remaining in the match. The Tigers attempted to respond in the 87th minute, but a shot on goal from Haley Hatcher was saved by SWOSU's Courtney Flores. The Bulldogs were able to keep Ouachita scoreless and get the shutout victory. 

Hatcher took four of Ouachita's six shots, including two of the Tigers' three shots on goal. Bryson Thomas also had a shot on goal. 

Llanes finished the 90-minute match with four saves, and she is currently ranked second in the GAC with 6.75 saves per game. 

The Tigers (4-5, 3-1 GAC) will travel to Searcy, Ark. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to take on Harding University. The Bisons are undefeated in conference play with a record of 3-0-1. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m.
