ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers football team had 13 members named to the 2015 All-GAC teams. Running back
Kris Oliver, offensive tackle
Michael Russell, and tight end
Johnathan Powell were named to the All-GAC First Team. The trio helped lead Ouachita to a 7-4 record in the GAC and finish the year with the program's eighth straight winning season.
Michael Russell, a senior from Charleston, Arkansas is two-time All-GAC First Team selection. Since Russell took over as the starting left tackle, The Tigers have averaged 228.5 rushing yards per game, becoming one of the most prolific running attacks in Division II.
Johnathan Powell, a senior from Searcy, Arkansas and a 2013 Second Team All-GAC selection, had a career highs in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns this year for the Tigers. He finished the year with 12 catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Kris Oliver, a redshirt freshman from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, finished the season with 1,395 yards of total offense and 21 touchdowns. His 1,176 rushing yards are the most by a freshman under
Todd Knight and his 19 rushing touchdowns are the second-most in a single season in program history.
Senior right tackle
Javin Prunty, from Jonesboro, Arkansas and outside linebacker
Kendrick Henderson, from Hooks, Texas, were named to the All-GAC Second Team. It marks the first all-conference selections of their careers. Prunty helped the Tigers average 253.8 rushing yards per game and Henderson finished with 46 tackles and three pass breakups.
Joining them on the second team as a return specialist was junior wide receiver
Ke'Vontae Pope from Blytheville, Arkansas. This was Pope's second-straight year to be named to the All-GAC Second Team. Pope was also named a 2015 honorable mention wide receiver. Pope finished the season leading the conference in kickoff return average and was ranked seventh in all-purpose yards.
Linebacker
Mike Williamson earned his second-straight honorable mention selection. The senior from Hollywood, Florida fought through an injury-plagues season to finish with 43 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss. Offensive lineman
Jed Beach earned honorable mention honors for his play on the Tigers offensive line. Like Williamson, Beach, a junior from West Fork, Arkansas, battled through injuries most of the year.
Defensive backs
Shaquille Hunter and
Alex Myres earned honorable mention in 2015. Myres, a sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, led the Tigers with 69 tackles and added four tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble. Hunter, a sophomore from Junction City, Arkansas finished with 20 tackles and four pass breakups.
Specialists
Shelton Wooley and
Cole Antley rounded out the honorable mention selections for Ouachita. Wooley, a sophomore from Ruston, Louisiana averaged 40 yards a punt, placing 21 inside the 20 yard line. Antley, a freshman from Atlanta Georgia, led the GAC in both field goal and PAT percentages. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
