Box Score ALVA, Okla. - With five seconds remaining in the contest, Northwestern Oklahoma State's Jonna Gregory earned a trip to the free-throw line with the Ouachita Lady Tigers leading 55-53. Gregory missed both shots, but an offensive rebound allowed Jonae Isaac to score a last-second bucket and send the game into overtime. In overtime, the Rangers outscored the Lady Tigers 8-4 to win the game 63-59.
The Lady Tigers (7-14, 3-11 GAC) took an early lead in the game, until a 5-0 run gave the Rangers an 11-8 lead with 11:15 to play in the first half. Northwestern never surrendered its lead for the rest of the period, but the Lady Tigers finished the half on an 8-1 run to tie the game at 23.
Despite a tie game, the Lady Tigers netted only six field goals and posted a shooting percentage of 21.4 percent. Ouachita made up for its shooting woes at the free-throw line, converting on 10-12 from the stripe.
Katie Kapler finished the game with a game-high eight points, and Kori Bullard followed with five points and four rebounds. Michael Yu grabbed led all players with seven first-half boards.
The second half featured three ties and seven lead changes until the Lady Tigers grabbed a 43-41 lead on a three-pointer by Kori Bullard with just under nine minutes to play. Despite never leading by more than six, Ouachita held its lead until the last-second, game-tying shot by Isaac, which tied the game at 55.
The Lady Tigers greatly improved their shooting in the second half, netting 55 percent of attempts from the floor. Ouachita also out-rebounded the Rangers 19-12 but committed seven more turnovers in the half.
Breanna Harris and Bullard carried the offense in the second half, scoring 10 points and nine points, respectively. Kapler provided the presence inside, as she grabbed eight rebounds to go along with six points.Â
In overtime, the Lady Tigers jumped out to a quick, four-point lead before the Rangers ended the game on an 8-0 run to win the game 63-59.
Neither team posted a field-goal percentage above 40 percent for the game, but Northwestern netted six more field goals. The Rangers also recorded 23 points off of Ouachita's 21 turnovers.
Bullard finished with a game-high 16 points, and Kapler followed with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Harris also scored in double-digits, adding 12 points as well as eight boards.Â
The Lady Tigers (7-14, 3-11 GAC) will host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Feb. 12. The game will be played in Bill Vining Arena at 5:30 p.m.
