Tigers defeat Southern Nazarene 4-3 in inaugural GAC match

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Logan Hampton scored his first goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the game to give the Ouachita Tigers a 4-3 win over Southern Nazarene University Thursday afternoon at Kluck Field. The victory gave the Tigers the first men's soccer win in the Great American Conferences' inaugural season. Ouachita snapped a five game losing skid and improved to 2-5 on the year.,

After an early goal by Southern Nazarene, Ouachita's Ryan Trayner responded less than 20 seconds later with a game-tying goal in the third minute of play. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the 21 minute. A corner kick by Brandon Hom was punched away by the Crimson Storm keeper. Ouachita's Gideon Onguti collected the ball of the punch and drilled it into the net from 10 yards out.

A late first-half goal by SNU would make it a 2-2 game to start the second period of play. SNU took the lead, 3-2 in 53rd minute of play. Just over 10 minutes later, Tigers Sewell Yost, Brandon Hom and Colton Huie would play a beautiful three-man game, with Huie having the final touch and putting the ball past the Crimson Storm keeper to tie the game at 3-3.

Yost earned his second assist of the game, when he sent a cross into path of Logan Hampton. Hampton lunged and struck the ball into the net at the 88th minute mark. The Tigers would hold on in the final minute to win 4-3.
