ALVA, Okla. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers had three players score in double figures and, as a team, shot 47 percent from three-point range in a 73-60 win over the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers. The Lady Tigers improved to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the Great American Conference.
Katie Kapler scored a game-high 28 points in the win for Ouachita.
Ouachita's
Breanna Harris scored 17 points, including going 2-2 from long range.
Kori Bullard shot 70 percent from the floor for 15 points. Kapler, Harris and Bullard each pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Kapler led the the Tigers with four three-pointers on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Lady Tigers led by nine at the end of the first half, 38-29. Ouachita outscored Northwestern 16-8 in the second quarter to build on their first-quarter lead. On defense, Ouachita held the Rangers to 33 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
The Lady Tigers never trailed in the second half, leading by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter. A pair of free-throws by
Katherine West put Ouachita up by 17 with just over three minutes left to play in the game. After short run by Northwestern cut the Ouachita lead to 10, Kapler drained her fourth trey of the game to give the Lady Tigers the 13-point lead and the win.Â
Katie Kapler's 28 points follows up her 30-point performance versus Blue Mountain College. She has scored in double figures in all but two of the Lady Tigers' games this season. She is averaging 15 points per game this season, followed closely by
Breanna Harris (13.3 ppg) and
Kori Bullard (10.4 ppg).Â
The Lady Tigers will face Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 9. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
