WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The Lady Tigers fell 81-57 to the Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Ouachita got 27 points from their bench, including a team-high 14 points from
Halley Hill. The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the Great American Conference.
Cold shooting hurt the Lady Tigers in the first half, who went 8-33 from the floor.
Katie Kapler led Ouachita with eight first-half points. She was the only Lady Tiger with multiple field goals in the first two quarters. Ouachita was 2-8 from long range in the first half, with both made threes coming from post players
Kori Bullard and
Halley Hill. Southwestern hit 7-16 from beyond the arc and went into halftime leading 45-23.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers capitalized on turnovers and trips to the free throw line to cut into the Lady Bulldogs lead.
Halley Hill and
Taylor Bowles each knocked down a pair of threes to being the Lady Tigers within 13 at the end of the quarter. Ouachita outscored Southwestern 20-11 in the third.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the fourth quarter with seven straight points putting the Lady Tigers down by 20. Ouachita could not recover. Hill scored the final five points for the Tigers, including her fourth three-pointer of the game.
Katherine West set a career high with eight steals in the game.Â
The Lady Tigers return home on Thursday, January 14 to Bill Vining Arena. They'll face the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
