ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –The Ouachita Tigers' men's soccer team defeated Northeastern State in overtime by a final score of 3-2.
Colten Clark scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the 97th minute. The home win improves Ouachita's record to 7-7.
Northeastern State scored two goals early. The Tigers found themselves down by a score of 2-0 in the 12
th minute, but fought valiantly for the remainder of the game to make a comeback. Brain Williams scored the first Ouachita goal in the 40th minute after being assisted by
Joey Zerbo.
The Tigers went on to equalize late in the second half with a 78
th-minute
Logan Hampton goal. With the score tied at 2-2, the game went into a sudden-death overtime. Ouachita ended the deadlock in the 97th minute with a goal from
Colten Clark. The game-winner was assisted by
Sewell Yost and was Clark's first goal of the season.
Ouachita produced very well offensively throughout the game. The team accumulated a total of 28 shots on the afternoon.
Tinashe Chigede led the Tigers with eight shots. Clark had seven shots, while
Joey Zerbo and
Sewell Yost had four shots each.
Defensively,
Nelson Pacheco had a stellar game. He made ten saves and held Northeastern State scoreless for the match's final 85 minutes after allowing two early goals.
The Tigers' next game will be against Harding on Oct. 25. The game will be played at Kluck Field and will kick off at 3 p.m.
