Tigers defeat Storm 3-1

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tiger volleyball snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Southern Nazarene University Friday night at the Sturgis Physical Education Center. The 12-5 Tigers improved to 4-3 in conference play. Tabatha Huckabee led the Tigers with 15 kills.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead taking the first to sets 25-18 and 25-22. Huckabee led the Tigers with 10 kills on 18 attacks and no attack errors in sets one and two. The Tigers entered the third set hitting .322 percent.

The Tigers dropped the third set to Southern Nazarene. The Tigers committed eight attack errors in the third set, three more than the first two sets combined.

Southern Nazarene jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the fourth set, forcing Ouachita to take a timeout. A 6-2 run by Ouachita capped off by a kill from Katie Camp tied the set at 7-7. Southern Nazarene regained the lead and appeared to on their way to taking the fourth set when a Mckenna Qualls kill put them up 20-17.

The Tigers regrouped and put together a 4-0 run behind a kill from Kori Bullard and three Crimson Storm attack errors. The two teams went back and forth and after a Tiger attack error, Southern Nazarene led 25-24. Adrianna Nolly's kill tied the game 25-25. Ashlie Dintleman subbed in and got a kill to put the Tigers up 26-25. On match point, Stormi Leonard set Nolly for the kill and the win.

Three Tigers finished with double-digit in kills. Behind Huckabee's 15 were Bullard with 14 and Nolly with 11. Ashley Wake led the Tigers with 25 digs, averaging 6.25 per set. Leonard ended the game with 48 assists, averaging 12 per set. Bullard finished with seven blocks.
