Lady Tigers suffer overtime loss to East Central

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers' basketball team fell to East Central in overtime by a final score of 73-70. Madison Brittain led the Lady Tigers offensively with 16 points as the team's record dropped to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Great American Conference.
 
The Lady Tigers began the game firing on all cylinders. They scored 26 points in the first quarter, led by Brittain, who made three three-pointers and scored 11 points. The Lady Tigers went on a 9-2 run in the last two-and-a-half minutes of the first quarter to take an eight-point lead at the break. Ouachita maintained its lead for the entirety of the second quarter, and the Lady Tigers never trailed by less than four.
 
East Central went on an early third quarter run to take the lead with nine minutes remaining, but Kori Bullard reclaimed the lead for the Lady Tigers with a three-pointer. Ouachita held that lead for the remainder of the quarter. With just under five minutes remaining in the quarter, a layup from Katie Kapler sparked the Lady Tigers to a 10-2 run. The run culminated in a nine point lead for the Lady Tigers but was broken with just over a minute remaining by an East Central three-pointer.
 
That three-pointer sparked a run for East Central which lasted into the fourth quarter and saw them take a one-point lead with just under four-and-a-half minutes remaining. After that point, the game saw three lead changes and one tie, which came after Alivia Huell hit a jump shot with six seconds remaining. That jumper tied that game at 67-67, sending the game to overtime.
 
In overtime, the Lady Tigers were unable to make a field goal, scoring only from the free-throw line. An East Central jumper with 28 seconds left gave them the lead and the game, 73-70.
 
Brittain led the Tigers offensively with 16 points, four of which were off three-pointers. Alivia Huell (13) and Katie Kapler (11) also scored in double-figures for the Lady Tigers. Huell also led the Lady Tigers with seven rebounds.
 
The Lady Tigers' next game will be played on December 7 against Arkansas-Fort Smith. The game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
