Tigers knock off Drury 10-8

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers second nine runs in the second inning and three different Tigers collected three hits in a 10-8 win over Drury University in the UAM 8-State Classic. The win improved Ouachita to 6-2.

After giving up a solo homerun in the first inning to Drury, the Tigers responded in the top of second with a nine-run rally. Ouachita started the inning with three straight singles to load the bases. Emily Acuna scored the first run on a squeeze bunt by Suzie Gresham. Alex Jennings scored on a single by Kelly Powell. Daniella Brantley scored the third run of the inning and Sarah Johnson drove in two with a double.

After a pitching change by Drury, Jennings got her second hit of the inning to bring Johnson home. With two outs, Brantley recorded her second hit of the inning as well, this time driving in three runs to make it a 9-1 game.

Drury answered in the bottom of the second with four runs to cut the Tigers lead to four. They would tack on three more runs in the third and fourth innings to leave Ouachita clinging to a one-run lead heading into the top of the sixth.

Acuna led the sixth off with a single and would score on a RBI groundout by Delaney Bono. Bono's RBI gave the Tigers a much needed insurance run heading into the seventh. Drury would go down in order in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Tigers the 10-8 victory.

Kelsey O'Brien picked up her second win and improved to 2-2. She struck out three over six innings of work.
