BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team dropped to 4-2 on the on the year after a 6-2 loss to Emporia State at the UAM 8-State Classic. Alex Jennings homered for the Tigers in the loss.
Ouachita took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Kate Lacina started the inning with a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Daniella Brantley. Lacina scored on a single through the left side by Emily Acuna.
Ouachita held the lead until the bottom of the fourth inning. Emporia State scored five runs in the inning to take a 5-1 lead.
Alex Jennngs led off the top of the fifth inning with a solo homerun on a 3-2 pitch to cut Emporia State's lead by one. Ouachita was unable to get another run home in the inning and trailed 5-2. Emporia State added another run in the bottom of the sixth. The Tigers fell 6-2.
Alex Jennngs went 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Emily Acuna went 1-3 with a RBI. Suzie Gresham and Kelly Powell recorded the Tigers other two hits. Kelsey O'Brien took the loss for Ouachita. She went five innings, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs. She struck out two and walked one.Â
