ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The #13 Ouachita Tigers men's tennis team went 1-2 on thee match road trip that included two match-ups with top-15 ranked opponents. Ouachita blanked Colorado State-Pueblo and fell in closely contested matches to Midwestern State and Cameron University. The Tigers now stand at 7-2 on the season.
In a 7-2 loss to #12 Midwestern State, Ouachita's #1 doubles team of
Vitor Oliveira and
Luis Chab defeated the 20th-ranked duo of Kyle Davidson and Ramon Toyos, 8-6. Lennart Lonneman picked up the lone singles win for Ouachita with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 win over Midwestern's #3 singles player.
Ouachita earned a 9-0 victory of Colorado State-Pueblo. All six singles matches were won in straight sets.
The Tigers face #15 Cameron University in the final match of the three-match series. #28
Vitor Oliveira picked the only singles match win for the Tigers, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Head Coach
Craig Ward was encouraged by his team's resilience during the trip.
"The guys were disappointed in the losses but not discouraged," coach Ward said. "If you can learn from a loss, or two, then it's not necessarily a bad thing this time of year. We definitely have some areas to improve and I am confident we will make those adjustments.It's a great group of guys and they don't mind being challenged."
The Tigers next match will be at home versus Drury University. The match is scheduled for March 13 at noon.
