ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's tennis team hosted the Great American Conference Fall Championships this past Thursday and Friday.
Thursday's action was all singles played at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center on the Henderson State campus. Athletes competing represented Ouachita, Southern Arkansas, Harding, and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Friday consisted of doubles flights and the singles finals. Several of the consolation brackets were not completed due to rain on Friday.
SINGLES
- Johannes Rittmannsberger won his first two matches in the red flight before falling in the finals to SAU's Uwe Diehl in a tiebreaker. Rittmannsberger defeated Harding's Heinrich Rootman in a tiebreaker in the first round and then took down SAU's Demir Halisdemir convincingly in the semifinals.
- Mathyss Esclapez went 1-1 in the red flight with a dominant win over Southeastern's Jackson Follett in the opener and a tiebreaker loss to Diehl in the semis.
- Guillaume Randoux went 1-1 in the purple flight, including a straight set win over Harding's Sebastian De Las Salas in the first round.
- Maximilian Brenner went 1-1 in the blue flight.
- Moritz Buss went 0-1 in the blue flight.
- Calin Simu went 0-1 in the white flight.
- Tinus Mueller went 0-2 in the green flight.
- Yarin Aebi went 0-2 in the purple flight.
DOUBLES
- Rittmannsberger and Aebi were second place in the purple flight going 2-1.
- Mueller and Randoux placed second in the white flight going 2-1.
- Buss and Brenner were 0-1 in the purple flight.
- Simu and Esclapez were 0-1 in the white flight.
The Tigers are back in action October 16-17 at the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagle Invitational.
