Tigers fall in Ada

ADA, Okla. - The Ouachita Tigers softball team opened a four game series in Ada, Oklahoma versus East Central University on Saturday. The Tigers dropped both games of the doubleheader by a score of 5-2 in Game 1 and 4-0 in Game 2. Kate Lacina and Paige Purifoy finished the day with a RBI apiece.

Down 5-0 in game one, Ouachita scored two runs in the top half of the fifth inning. Macy Nantz led the inning of with a double, her fifth of the year. Kate Lacina followed with a double down the right field line, scoring Nantz. It was Lacina's sixth RBI of the season. With two outs in the inning, Paige Purifoy singled down the right field line to score Lacina.

East Central held Ouachita scoreless in the final two innings to hang on for the 5-2 win. Macy Nantz took the loss for the Tigers,moving to 4-3 on the year. Nantz allowed only two earned runs on five hits in six innings. 

Ouachita was held hitless in game two until the sixth inning, when Sarah Johnson singled to center field. Johnson leads the Tigers with 20 hits in 18 games this season and is currently is hitting .345. With the 4-0 loss in game two, Ouachita goes to 7-11 on the year. 

The two teams resume pay tomorrow with the final two games of the series. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 12:00 p.m.
