Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Kyle Parris

Tigers split day to end weekend at 3-1

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers volleyball team split their final two games of the Bettye Wallace Classic, falling 3-0 to #11 Northern State University and winning 3-1 over Lindenwood University. Ouachita's middles played big in both games, recording 19 team blocks.

The Tigers faced 11th-ranked Northern State University to start the day. The Tigers lost in three straight sets, 15-25, 23-25, 14-25. Ouachita trailed by one 11-10 in the first set when Northern State rattled off a 14-5 win to take set one. The Tigers responded in set two. Trailing 23-18, the Tigers scored five straight points behind the service of Kori Bullard and three kills from Adrianna Nolly. The Tigers rally fell short, losing the next two points and the set. Nolly went down with an injury in set three and despite strong bench play from Caitlin Cantrell and Ashlie Dintleman, the Tigers could not answer the Northern State attack.

The Tigers offense got back on track in their game versus Lindenwood win 3-1, 25-17, 22-25, 25-10, 25-19. Kori Bullard led the Tigers with 10 kills, four blocks and a .556 attack percentage. Caitlin Cantrell and Tabatha Huckabee each recorded eight blocks. Ashley Wake got a season-high 20 digs in the match. After dropping the second set to Lindenwood, the Tigers dominated set three. Up 4-2, the Tigers scored 10 straight points behind the service of Bullard. Three of those points came off blocks by Cantrell and Huckabee. The win over Lindewood improved the Tigers record to 6-2 on the year.

The Tigers travel to Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday, Sept. 13 to open GAC play. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
