ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers volleyball team won its first two matches of the 2016 season, defeating both Spring Hill College and Kentucky Wesleyan college by a final of 3-1.
In the match versus Spring Hill, freshman
Tabatha Huckabee recorded a match high 18 kills, swinging away at .533 percent clip. Senior
Jayme Shell added 12 kills and led the team with 15 digs. Junior
Kori Bullard had a team-high five blocks to go with her 10 kills. Feeding the Tiger attack was setter
Stormi Leonard, who notched 54 assists and 12 digs in the first match of the day. AS a team the Tigers hit .331 on 139 attacks in the first match.
Ouachita faced off against Kentucky Wesleyan in match number two. After dropping the first set, Ouachita took the next three by the same final score of 25-14. Freshmen
Adrianna Nolly and Huckabee led the team with 11 kills each. Shell and Leonard recorded their second double-doubles of the day. Shell finished with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Leonard had 16 digs to go along with 38 assists.
The Tigers close out the weekend on Saturday, September 3 versus Alabama-Huntsville. The match is set to start at 9:00 a.m.
