ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The 11-3 Ouachita Tigers volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Harding University by a final of 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-8).
Kori Bullard and
Adrianna Nolly led the Tigers with 13 kills and
Ashley Wake recorded 26 digs, her third straight match with 20-plus digs.
Stormi Leonard led the Tigers with 46 assists.
After taking the first set, Ouachita struggled offensively in sets two and three. The Tigers could seem to solve a Harding defense that registered 16 blocks in the same two sets. Collectively, Ouachita posted an attack percentage of .054 in the two sets they dropped. Trailing 18-20 in the fourth set, Ouachita took advantage of three straight Harding errors to take 21-20 lead. Jayme Shell closed out the fourth set to give Ouachita the 25-21 win and tie the match at two sets each.
Tied 2-2 in the fifth set, Ouachita went on a 6-2 run to take an 8-4 lead at the switch. Nolly recorded two kills and a solo block to lead the Tigers on a 7-4 run to close out the fifth set, including a kill to the end the match and give the Tigers their second home win over Harding in their last three visits.
The Tigers will travel across Highway 7 on Thursday night, Sept. 29 to face Henderson State. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
