Tigers fall to HSU 3-2

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers volleyball team dropped a five set match rival Henderson State by a final of 3-2 (25-21, 13-25, 23-25, 25-21, 13-15). It was Ouachita's first loss to Henderson State since 2010. Four Tigers finished with double digits in kills, led by Tabatha Huckabee's 14. Stormi Leonard finished with 54 assists and 12 digs. Ashley Wake finishe dwith 21 digs. 

The Tigers took set one 25-21. Ouachita hit .519 in the opening set, led by Kori Bullard and Adrianna Nolly who registered five kills each. The team registered 17 kills on 28 attacks with only two errors. The Tigers took a four point lead early on five straight kills behind the service of Anna LeTourneau

The Ouachita offense faltered in set two. The Tigers managed only six kills on 30 attacks. Henderson State jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and Ouachita was unable to get within less than three points. Bullard and Ashlie Dintleman led Ouachita with two kills each in second frame.

Set three went back and forth, with Henderson State prevailing to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Tabatha Huckabee led the Tigers with six kills in the set, while Katie Camp added four. Down 23-19, the Tigers stormed back behind three kills by Huckabee and one by Jayme Shell, cutting the Reddie lead to one, 24-23. A service error by Ouachita gave the set to Henderson, 25-23.

Ouachita regained the momentum in set four, winning it 25-21. Nolly finished the set with four kills, while Bullard and Camp finished with four each. Tiger setter Stormi Leonard was active on both offense and defense, registering 13 assists and six digs. As a team, Ouachita finished the set with a .312 attack percentage.

In the fifth and final set, Henderson State held an 8-6 advantage at the switch. Down 11-8, Ouachita came went on a 3-0 to tie the set at 11-11. Down 14-13, Ouachita was unable to complete the comeback, falling in the final set, 15-13.
