ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers fell in Magnolia on Saturday to the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders by a final of 62-55. Ouachita's
Chasidee Owens finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Madison Brittain also scored 12, while
Kori Bullard scored 10 and grabbed nine rebounds. with the loss, the Lady Tigers drop to 7-10 overall and 4-7 in GAC play.
Ouachita's
Madison Brittain scored eight points in the first quarter on 75-percent shooting, including two three-pointers. Two free throws by Bria Caldwell put the Lady Tigers up 14-12 with just over two minutes left to play in the first. The Lady Tigers led 19-16 heading into the second.
Kori Bullard led the Lady Tiger offense in the second quarter, scoring seven on 3-4 shooting. Bullard also pulled down five rebounds in the quarter. Ouachita held their lead the entire second, going up by eight with three minutes to play after
Alivia Huell sank a pair of free throws. At the half, Ouachita led the Lady Muleriders 35-31.
In the third quarter,
Chasidee Owens provided the offensive spark, leading the team with seven points in the quarter. Both teams exchanged leads in the third.
Katie Kapler's jumper at 4:09 put Ouachita up 45-44. SAU regained the lead and were up by three heading into the final quarter. The Lady Tigers' offense went cold in the fourth quarter, making only three field goals. Kapler's basket at the 4:15 mark was the Lady Tigers first of the fourth. Brittain and Owens accounted for the other two buckets for the Lady Tigers in the fourth. SAU would hold on for the 62-55 win.
Ouachita travels to Oklahoma next week for games versus Southern Nazarene (Jan. 26) and Oklahoma Baptist (Jan. 28).
