ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' football team (4-2) will travel to Bethany, Okla., Thursday to face the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm (3-3).
Â
Ouachita will look to bounce back this week after losing its homecoming game to Harding last week by a final score of 31-28. The Tigers put in a decent performance in both offense and defense, but failed to covert several opportunities which came back to bite them in the loss.
Â
Quarterback
Austin Warford accumulated 308 total yards and a touchdown in the game, while
Allie Freeman showed off his receiving talent with 114 yards and a score. Warford leads the Tigers in both rushing and passing yards this season. The senior has over 1500 total yards and eight total touchdowns.
Â
Southern Nazarene has already won more games this season than they have in any other year since joining the NCAA in 2014. After losing their first game to Southeastern in a blowout, the Storm won close games over East Central and Harding. They then lost by a big margin to Arkansas Tech before beating Henderson by 18 points. The team will look to bounce back this week after a loss to Southern Arkansas last week.
Â
The Storm tend to favor the run more than the pass, but still utilize the passing game to keep the defense balanced. Dual-threat quarterback Jacob Spady leads the team in both rushing and passing yards. Spady has picked up 509 yards on the ground and 583 yards through the air this season. He also has 11 total touchdowns. The Southern Nazarene defense is overwhelmingly led by sophomore defensive back Josh Jordan who has accrued 60 total tackles this season.
Â
Ouachita has not lost to Southern Nazarene in their three meetings since Southern Nazarene joined the Great American Conference in 2014. Last season, the Tigers defeated the Storm by a score of 41-14.
Shun'cee Thomas ran for 149 yards and a touchdown in that game.
