ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers' basketball team defeated Oklahoma Baptist Thursday by a final score of 66-60 to notch its first conference win of the season.
The game was back-and-forth early, but the Lady Tigers took the lead on a three-pointer from Madison Brittain with 4:14 remaining in the second quarter and never trailed again. Ouachita led by as much 12 points in the third quarter, but Oklahoma Baptist was able to keep the game close throughout and make for an interesting finish to the game.
It was a strong showing in the paint which led the Lady Tigers to victory on a night when they only made five of 23 three-pointers. Ouachita scored 44 points in the paint and outrebounded Oklahoma Baptist 48 to 39.
Morgan Miller led the Lady Tigers in rebounds with 14.
Chasidee Owens led the Lady Tigers in scoring Thursday evening with 15 points. Owens earned 10 free-throws in the game and converted five of them. She also secured seven rebounds. Also performing well was Brittain who scored 12 points and led the Tigers' three-point attack with two made three-pointers.
The Lady Tigers' next game will be played against Southern Nazarene on Saturday. Tip-off will be at 1 p.m.
