ARKADELPHIA, Ark – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team won both games Wednesday in a doubleheader against Williams Baptist. The Tigers won the first game by a final score of 4-0 and the second game by a final score of 4-3. The two wins improve the Tigers' record to 5-1.
The Tigers played well across the field in the first game.
Marissa Butler pitched 5.2 shutout innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. The Tigers only allowed four hits to Williams Baptist. Ouachita opened the scoring in the fourth inning when
Kelly Powell singled to right field and drove in a run. The scoring continued for the Tigers in the fifth inning when
Natalie Jackson hit a three-run home run to extend the Tiger lead to 4-0.
Macy Nantz entered the game as pitcher in the sixth inning to earn a save for the Tigers.
The second game was a bit closer for the Tigers and required a late comeback. Williams Baptist led the game by a score of 3-1 entering the sixth inning, but Ouachita engineered two eighth inning runs and walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game. Brantley earned two RBI in the game.

The two wins against Williams Baptist will propel the Tigers into their weekend UAM 8-State Classic tournament. The Tigers will begin play on Friday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. against Southwest Baptist. The tournament will take place in Bentonville, Ark.
